Budapest has been widely famous for it’s gastrorevolution, either we think about street food, Hungarian cuisine… or Jewish gastronomy. In the past years, more and more initiatives have been launched in the historical Jewish Quarter. During the tour around this constantly revitalized quarter, plenty of fancy designer stores, classy Judaica shops, and friendly ruin bars will invite you.
We will also pop in to some of the dedicated deli places where you can taste the delights of local and international Jewish cuisine. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great variety of food – but also to get a glimpse of Jewish dietary laws, life cycle, and, last but not least, local everyday life. Come and join us for the discovery of that traditional yet dynamic world!
The tour goes through three (more or less) classical stages: you will start with a nice soup, followed by some bites of Jewish-style street food, and then finish the meal with a lovely stuffed pastry: the multi-layered Flódni at a Jewish pastry shop. Just keep in mind that these are only kosher-style foods, so not convenient for those who keep kosher!
BOOK the JEWISH HERITAGE AND FOOD TOUR and our coordinator will contact you within 24 hours.
If you have any special requests in mind, and you would like to upgrade or tailor the program (for example, dining in a local resident’s home or cooking with a Yiddishe Momme), please ask for an individual offer at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Experience the life that locals live, and travel just like visiting a friend.
